The US PVC market was stable on May 10.
Demand is expected to be subdued throughout the construction season. US PVC producers resisted
further price reductions, citing high production costs and a slowing global
market as their main reasons. The price
drop is due to recent decreases in US PVC -- the prices have fallen $95/mt from
March 22 when they were estimated at $845/mt FAS Houston. US PVC was $750/mt in May 2010, unchanged from the previous week. According to one source, the summer construction season this
year is expected to be low-priced. The
