Low demand for maintenance in the upcoming Q3 season / End users expected to purchase H1 June requirements

Market sources reported that the Asian naphtha market was supported by some end users who are expected to come out to buy spot supplies during this week for their first-half of June requirements due to weak fundamentals in demand and supply. Brokers pegged the May-June mean of Japan naphtha Swaps time spread to $11/mt at midmorning Asian trading on April 23, an increase of $1.50/mt over the previous session. The CFR Northeast Asia ethylene spread to C+F Japan Naphtha was $203.38/mt in mid-morning Asian trade on April 23. This is down $21/mt compared to the previous session. This was lower than the usual breakeven spread for integrated producers of $250/mt and $300-$350/mt.
