Asian benzene markets weakened on the
session June 26, dropping $6/mt to $749.33/mt FOB Korea. Chinese market participants returned after
breaking for the Dragon Boat festival holidays in the week ended June 23. The CFR
China marker down $18/mt on the session at $752.50/mt, considering intraday
movements in the FOB Korea and east China markets. The east
China prompt marker fell Yuan 145/mt from the prior session to Yuan 6,145/mt. Buying
interest for cargoes was low because of weak downstream markets. "Almost
all benzene derivatives are not doing well," said a producer. The spread
between phenol and benzene has been shrinking, another producer said. "A
