Asian LLDPE: Prices soften amid weak demand, thin trading / Southeast Asia buyers stay on sidelines / China's Zhongtian Hechuang restarts LL line

Prices in the Asian linear low polyethylene market softened on the back of continued weak demand as buyers stayed on the sidelines in the week ended July 31. LLDPE CFR Far East Asia down $10/mt week on week at $940/mt while CFR Southeast Asia was down $5/mt week on week at $1,010/mt on July 31. In China, sentiments were bearish throughout the week due to weak expectations of macroeconomic stimulus. However, sentiments picked up on July 31 after the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting on July 30, where Chinese leaders pledged to step up macro-policies for the rest of 2024 to meet an economic growth goal of roughly 5% for the year.
