Asian LLDPE: Prices stable amid limited spot discussion / Limited Spot Discussions in Southeast Asia / Chinese market quiet due to Golden Week

The Asian market for low density polyethylene was relatively stable during the week ending Oct. 2, despite limited spot activity. LDPE film CFR Far East Asia was stable for the week, at $1.110/mt on Oct. 2. CFR Southeast Asia also remained unchanged, at $1.150/mt. A trader stated that there are only a few suppliers and discussions, but not many sales. According to a trader in Vietnam, LDPE prices are no longer falling. They have stabilized at $1,150/mt, as sellers do not want to offer any further discounts. Early July saw prices in the Southeast Asian LDPE industry reach a two-year high, due to a tight supply and a lack in capacity expansion in the region.
