Asian LLDPE: Stable despite buyers remaining on the sidelines / Muted trade in SE Asia except Vietnam / Traditional peak season in China is slowing this year - Sep 02, 2024

In the week ending August 28, the Asian market for linear low density polyethylene remained stable as buyers maintained a wait and see attitude. LLDPE films were stable at $930/mt for Far East Asia, and $970/mt for Southeast Asia. Trading in SE Asia was slow, except for Vietnam. There were some new offers made ahead of the National Holidays which will run from August 31 to September 3. Some customers are restocking, but others are still watching prices and shipping costs. A trader in Vietnam said that most converters had enough inventory. Market participants in China are also waiting and watching to see how the supply-demand balance will be affected by the new capacity that is expected to be online later this year.
