The Asian toluene market rose on June 27 as
a result of tight supplies and gains in the upstream markets for naphtha, adjacent
downstream markets for paraxylene. The
aromatics market was mixed, with paraxylene prices higher and
benzene/isomer-graded mixed xylenes and mixed xylenes at lower levels. As several countries observed Eid, the spot market was
relatively quiet. According to sources,
the market expects a decrease in freight rates and vessel positions. Market sources reported that China-origin buyers were
indicating around $850-870/mt for 3,000 to 6,000 mt of lots with a letter of
credit on sight. FOB Maoming, selling
