Prices of polyethylene terephthalate in Asia were stable during the week ending April 30, despite a lackluster trading environment ahead of Labor Day in China, which will take place from May 1-5. Sources claim that prices were unchanged despite the fact that end-users stocked up ahead of the holidays. The market indications remained stable, with offers around $900-910/mt F.O.B. China and purchasing indications at $880/mt F.O.B. China. Sources said that Chinese sellers no longer offered May-loading cargoes but instead June. A trader reported that most soft drink factories had secured their supply for the second-quarter in advance. Only a few factories still have stock replenishment needs, according to this trader.
