The European acrylonitrile market continued to show mixed fundamentals during the week ending May 7. A slight ease in domestic supply did not mitigate current import restrictions. The week ended May 7 saw an increase in supply across Europe, as waning demand allowed for more material to be readily available for spot consumption. The domestic supply was able to increase despite the continued tightness of imports, which were a result of pressures on the supply chain and tensions at Suez Canal. A distributor stated that "we haven't seen many opportunities in the last few weeks on acrylonitrile." "Arbitrage between Europe and Asia is non-existent, shipping costs remain high, and the Suez issue does not help at all."
