Limited Buyer Appetite in Europe / Upstream propylene CP settles lower

Jun 05, 2024

The European acrylonitrile price fell in the week ending June 4, due to a combination of a lower spot demand and cheaper propylene. The European acrylonitrile market price was $1,470/mt CIF/ARA on June 4, a $10/mt decrease from the previous week. The European spot market was illiquid, with traders citing a lack in interest from consumers due to a low level of immediate demand. The supply was good, with European spot cargoes being offered at $1.480/mt, but with no buyers. A trader stated that there was no activity on the European market. The European propylene market-set monthly contract price was Eur1,105/mt for June on May 31. This is Eur30/mt less than the previous month. This drop is due to falling prices in the market for feedstock naphtha.
