The European benzene price rose on May 25
due to continued liquidity in the market during the settlement window of the
June contract. Prices
rose in the trades on May 25, with a backwardated price structure continuing
into July. The day saw four trades, and
three more late on May 24. This brings the total volume traded to 17,000 mt. The laycan for five to 30 days of forward delivery was
valued at $977.50/mt CIF-ARA, an increase of $20.25/mt from the previous day. Styrene downstream was not liquid, with prices barely
changing. A trader stated that the market
was not moving much due to a thin demand. The
spread between two products was $10-15/mt for the day.
