Asian LDPE : thin trading as buyers wait and see / Purchasing appetite in SE Asia is waning / Chinese prices in a downward trend

Low density polyethylene trading was light in the week leading up to the 31st of July as buyers opted for a wait-and see approach amid uncertainty in shipping conditions and a weakening sentiment. LDPE CFR Fareast Asia was $10/mt lower than the previous week, at $1140/mt, while CFR Southeast Asia was $10/mt lower, at $1240/mt, on July 31. Southeast Asia's LDPE demand is waning as customers ask for lower prices. In Vietnam, for example, bids have been heard at $1.170-$1,180/mt, compared to $1.250/mt in the previous week. A trader stated that "but most of the current offers are still around 1,250/mt or over $1,300/mt so PE suppliers aren't willing to lower their price."
