The low density polyethylene (LDPE) market was quiet in the week ending September 11, as buyers stayed away. Prices in Southeast Asia softened, with LDPE films assessed at $1150/mt on Sept.11, down $10/mt from the previous week. This was due to a weakening of demand and suppliers accepting lower bids. Vietnam's northern region was hit by a major storm on Sept.7. The death toll reached 141 on Sept.11. According to sources, the Hai Phong Port in north Vietnam has suffered serious damage. A trader said, "The port has closed and customers are unable to get cargo into or out of the country yet." Few offers were made in China this week, and prices remained stable.
