US LDPE Spot Exports Stable Despite Slow Demand / South American buyers' interest is low / Rail Car Values Heard at 47 Cents/lb

US low density polyethylene export prices remained stable during the week of August 14 due to persistently challenging fundamentals as well as quiet activity on global markets. Rail car values for general-purpose resins were consistently reported at 47 cents/lb. A 46 cents/lb indication was not considered repeatable. The price of fractional-melt LDPE is higher than general-purpose LDPE. This is because the availability of this material is very limited. According to feedback from the market, PE producers that also produce ethylene vinyl acetate adjust their LDPE/EVA swivel lines to make more LDPE. The EVA market has been oversupplied worldwide.
