Southeast Asian low-density polyethylene prices increased in the week ending May 29, due to tighter supply and higher freight costs. A Southeast Asian producer said that the price sentiment has increased slightly from last week, especially for LL & LD. Although demand remained largely unchanged from the previous weeks, end-users purchased more cargoes to prepare for any further increases in freight costs. Supply was tight. A trader said, "LDPE supplies have been tight. Since this year there hasn't really been any new expansions or plants." Sources said that this has led to an increase in offer prices, and the end-users are forced to accept these higher prices because there are few offers on the market.
