Asian LDPE : Thin trade amid limited new offers / Few new offers heard from China and SE Asia / Some restocking is taking place in China before the long holidays

The Asian market for low density polyethylene was quiet during the week ending September 25 due to limited spot offers. LDPE film CFR Far East Asia was up $10/mt to $1,110/mt while CFR Southeast Asia was unchanged at 1,150/mt on Sept. 25, Restocking was done in China prior to the National Day holiday from October 1 to 7. Southeast Asia buyers had enough inventory and did not rush to secure cargoes. On upstream markets, Asian-ethylene was barely traded on Sept. 25, despite persistent weakness downstream. Market sources reported that there were very few bids or offers each day due to a general lack in urgency. There is a very low demand for ethylene at the moment as downstream products do not perform well. A long holiday is also coming up...
