Asian LDPE market fell on the week May 24 due to weak demand amid a
traditionally slow season, sources said. High supplies compared with Q1
and weaker-than-normal demand were the key reasons for the subdued market, traders
said. Southeast Asian demand was weak as converters held back purchases,
and were afraid to take trading risks given the uncertain
economy. Although current prices might be close to the breakeven cost of
coal based production, sources said coal-based units were still running at low
