Asia LDPE: Falling on weak demand- Packaging needs weak- Indian imports downThe Asian LDPE was down on May 10, amid
weak demand. Traders reported that people did not want to stock up because of
economic uncertainty. Low-cost producers will have the edge
in a market with weak demand. Some sellers are looking at India to be the
country that has the highest netback. This means that the incremental supply of
India won't match the growth in demand. India imports
around 30%-40%, while the demand for PE was estimated to be 7 million mt by
2023. According to S&P Global, China was self-sufficient at 65% and
expected to grow by 1%-2% at the end of this year. The Middle
East is expected to export around 13 million mt/year of PE, mainly to Asia.
