LDPE market fell on the week May 17 due to weak demand amid a traditionally
slow season, sources said. Sources said that South Asian prices were
higher than China due to limited supply sources. They added that owing to
weak demand, LDPE prices have fallen to levels now equivalent to
HDPE. LDPE used to be more expensive than HDPE due to its higher selling
prices stemming from increased production costs and snug supply previously, as
many producers switched to making ethyl vinyl acetate as LDPE had higher
margins. However, EVA markets were also seeing a surplus these days,
