Latin PVC prices rise in Brazil due to supply uncertainty : WCSA prices increase on the back of higher costs / Traders from Brazil report problems in shipping materials from Egypt / Costs and organization of WCSA are a concern

PVC imports prices in South America increased during the week ending Jan. 15, despite a stable demand. There was some uncertainty in Brazil about the availability of materials from suppliers. Market participants on the West Coast South America mentioned higher prices.

Spot PVC is $900/mt, CFR Brazil on Jan. 15. This price was up $5 from the previous week and in line with the highest value heard in the range of prices indicated between $895-$900/mt. A European supplier offered an $850/mt CFR Brazil, but the grade of material did not match methodology. According to a trader, other offers from Egypt were between $895 and $900/mt, but availability is still a problem. The trader stated that "my clients were offered $900/mt but complained about the shipping time." It is unknown...
