In the week ending August 28, import polyvinylchloride prices in West Coast South America, Brazil and Argentina decreased. Buyers are awaiting September's producers' prices.

The demand was strong but the prices fell as buyers looked for domestic prices in September. Spot PVC was $830/mt CFR Brazil on August 28, down $20 from the previous week. This is in line with the trades heard and confirmed by the market. This is a highly speculative period. Exists a demand? Yes. Is the consistency consistent? Yes. "But buyers are looking at prices that are much lower than those seen so far," said one trader. A second trader stated that "there is demand."
