On July 3, the West Coast of South America saw spot import PVC prices increase by $80/mt due to uncertainty in supply, while prices in Brazil were unchanged despite talk of increased competition among imports and domestic producers.

Prices for spot import PVC are $930/mt CFR. This is $50 higher than the previous week. The range of tradeable prices heard was $900/mt up to $1,010/mt. The price increase is due to higher freight costs from Asia, the partial suspension of Vestolit operations in Mexico, and an increase in US exports to India. Demand should have been flat and stable but is now increasing. They (buyers), thought that the Vestolit issue would be resolved sooner... They lack inventory.
