In thin trade, Asian monoethylene glycol
imports prices remained stable on March 13, due to weak polyester demand and
increasing spot supply. The global downstream polyester
outlook is influenced by the possibility that the US and Europe will be in
recession. According to market sources, more Chinese
factories are relying on domestic demand for MEG this year, and not exports. Around 50%
to 55% of Naphtha-based manufacturers acknowledged that naphtha was at its
highest level since July 2022. According to market observers, MEG
prices have been stable over the past year 2023 while naphtha prices have
increased. Traders said that MEG producers who use coal as
their feedstock have seen an increase in run rates due to the recent decline in
