US Gulf Coast methanol prices were stable on the 5th of June, despite continued market calm and a planned shutdown in South America. YPF Quimica, a subsidiary of Argentina's YPF Quimica, has announced a planned turnaround at its Lujan de Cuyo methanol facility, located in Mendoza Province. The scheduled turnaround began on June 1 and will last 30 days. According to the website of YPF, Lujan de Cuyo's methanol nameplate capacity is 411,000 mt/year. According to a source on the market, Argentina's demand for natural gas was high, and increased imports were required to meet domestic requirements.
