July ICE Brent drops $1.45/b in a single day / Trades limited

May 31, 2024

The Asian monoethylene market saw a thin trade on May 30 as participants pulled back amid a drop in crude oil price. After three days of gains, the July ICE Brent futures dropped $1.45/b to $83.42/b. This caused some participants to withdraw and wait for further clarity. The number of trades was limited. Most were in the Chinese domestic markets, where some deals were done at a discount between Yuan 40-42/mt from the currently traded EG2409 Futures. Import market discussions were few, with only a few offers and bids on the day.
