Prices for Asian paraxylene were marginally lower than the previous day, May 7. Sellers are still struggling with surplus cargoes as well as a lackluster appetite to buy. Asian PX was down $0.67/mt for the day, at $1.026/mt CFR unv1/China. A trader from Singapore stated that the buying interest for July is still not very strong. The trader noted that July was still softer than anticipated. He also said that sellers will be most concerned about the availability of spot PX cargoes. A second trader from Singapore stated that PX prices may still fall due to the large supply on the physical market. The trader said that there were still many cargoes on the physical side.
