The Asian naphtha markets ended the week of
April 28 with a soft note. This continued the bearish trend, as the trade for
H1 cargoes due to be delivered in June is winding down. Market participants are
now waiting for the trade for H2 cargoes due to arrive. The derivatives market reflected a weaker
sentiment, with the backwardation decreasing in midmorning trading on April 28. Brokers set
the front-month swap spread for Japan's May-June naphtha at $3.5-4.19/mt. This
was down from $4-5/mt as of April 27 Asian close. The market
participants were pessimistic about the near-term outlook for the naphtha
