Asian Iso MX: Prices rise $56.50/mt in a week due to rising crude and PX / PX up $55.33/mt in the past week / Thin trade during China holidays

The price of mixed isomer-grade xylene in Asia increased by $56.50/mt to $784/mt from FOB Korea, $803/mt from CFR Taiwan and $54.40/mt to $795/mt for CFR China on Oct. 4 as crude oil futures rose rapidly at the end of the week. The December ICE Brent crude futures reached $78.24/barrel in Asian trade at 830 GMT Oct. 4. This is up $9.7% from the previous week and $3.56/b on a day-to-day basis. Prices of paraxylene also increased by $19/mt per day, and $55.33/mt per week. They now stand at $923/mt CFR Taiwan or CFR China. The market was quieter than usual due to China being closed from Oct. 1-7, a national holiday in China. South Korea also had a few holidays that week.
