Asian Iso MX: Prices plunged $31/mt in a week to a 19-month low / PX drops $23.67/mt in a week / South Korea's MX exports in July surge

Asian isomer grade mixed xylenes prices fell to a new 19-month low on Aug. 16. Prices were down $4/mt per day at $824/mt FOM Korea, $839/mt CIF Taiwan and $3/mt for $850/mt CIF China. FOB Korea's marker fell $31/mt from week to week, to its lowest since early January 2023. This was due to a combination of low demand for gasoline blends and falling downstream paraxylene price. PX dropped $23.67/mt week on week to $959.33/mt at CFR Taiwan/China, while the PX-MX differential increased by $7.33/mt. The domestic markets in China were mixed, as inventories remained low. They fell to below 30,000 mt during the week ending August 12. Domestic China ex-tank was up Yuan 51.67/mt to Yuan 7,135/mt or approximately $856.50/mt.
