Asian Iso MX: Down following lower crude oil prices / Traders anticipate isomer MX cargo available in off-spec / China may purchase more cargoes

On Aug. 2, Asian isomer grade mixed xylenes fell $6.50/mt from $873.50/mt to $888.50/mt at FOB Korea, and $6/mt at $904/mt at CFR China. The October Brent crude oil contract fell from $81.35/b to $80.03/b. The traders in Asia reported that the isomer MX supply was long and there were cargoes of different specifications available on the market. Most destination markets were experiencing a slowdown in demand. One trade source stated that China may be the only destination market able to buy large quantities of cargo. Sources expected that extra isomer MX supplies would be added to gasoline blend pools at a discounted price, due to the availability of cargoes off-spec for paraxylene.
