Asian Iso MX: Climbs to $11/mt as crude oil rises, and assessment laycans are rolled out to December / MX/naphtha spread reaches new low of $39.88/mt in 2024 / East China MX stock rises to above 80,000 mt

On the back of higher crude oil and downstream prices, Asian isomer grade mixed xylenes increased $11/mt since Oct. 30, to $712/mt at FOB Korea; $727/mt at CFR Taiwan; and $712/mt at CFR China on Nov. 1. The ICE January Brent crude futures rose $2.77/b, to $74.72/b by the close of Asia at 0830 GMT on Nov. 1, while paraxylene jumped $17.66/mt to $847.33/mt for Taiwan/China. Isomer MX dropped $22/mt from last week to $712/mt at FOB Korea, as the domestic Chinese prices remained attractive for buyers. Also, eastern China MX inventories rose over 80,000 mt and there was ample supply in Northeast Asia. Spreads on MX-feedstock naphthalene also fell to their lowest level of the year at $39.88/mt.
