Asian Iso MX: Sliding $12/mt Wow amid increased volatility / Backwardation in China's domestic markets / China MX inventories drop below 30,000 mt

The Asian isomer grade mixed xylene FOB Korea mark fell $12/mt from the previous week to $736/mt, after recovering from lower levels. Data shows that the lowest level was reached on March 12, at $715/mt FOB Korea. This is its lowest level since December 11, 2024 at $714/mt. Prices rose and fell in part because of crude oil movements and were likely linked to market anxiety over trade politics and tariffs. The domestic market in China also saw a sharply wider backwardation of prices between March and the month of April as prompt inventories remained low. On the other hand a relatively high cargo arrival volume was expected for April according to market sources.
