The CFR China and FOB Korean styrene markers for April 19 were $1,181.50/mt apiece and $1,171.50/mt apiece, up by $1/mt each from the previous assessment. After tracking the volatile rise in crude oil price earlier in the day, discussions for Asian SM on the Chinese domestic market were relatively ad hoc. Asian SM prices rose, with the May futures at the Dalian Commodities Exchange reaching a high of Yuan 9,772/mt before reversing course following the drop in crude oil prices upstream. The DCE EB2405 SM futures contract ended at Yuan 9,646/mt by 3 pm Singapore time on April 19. This was an increase of Yuan 52/mt for the day.
