Asian toluene was priced lower on May 21 in line with other markets for aromatics and energy. Market on Close did not allow for transparent offers or bids. According to market sources, gasoline blenders were not able to meet demand in the region. The actual demand was lower than expected. The market expected toluene to be supported by gasoline blending, but the actual demand is far below expectations. A trader said that the weaker than expected demand also affected toluene and other aromatics like benzene.
