On April 20, EDC: Asian diethylene
dichloride remained stable from week to week at $300/mt FAR East Asia, and
$320/mt FAR Southeast Asia. Limited
supplies prompted few discussions on spot prices, and buying appetites were
lukewarm in response to a weaker downstream industry. The upstream market for ethylene weakened by $20/mt per
week, to $920/mt as of April 20. The
feedstock cost for EDC production was calculated at $267/mt based on the
current price of ethylene. Chandra Asri,
an Indonesian company, has agreed to work with the Indonesia Investment
Authority in order to develop a potential chlor-alkali facility in Cilegon. The
