Spot activity increased in the Asian
naphtha marketplace on April 10, when two tenders were made and one purchase
tender was concluded at reduced levels. Sources said. According to market sources, the fundamentals
remained relatively unchanged, with the naphtha industry still being impacted
by low downstream petrochemicals demand, thin olefin margins and a slow
turnaround in stream cracker production. The
derivatives market was affected by weaker sentiments, with the backwardation
structure shrinking in mid-morning trading April 10. Brokers
valued the front-month May/June Japan naphtha Swap Spread at $6.5/mt. This was
down from $6.75/mt at April 6 Asian close. Spot
supplies were still evident from the Middle East, as Qatar Petroleum issued an
