China SM imports drop nearly 100% in March / CFR India price drops by $29.5/mt in a week

CFR China's styrene and FOB Korean markers were $1,146/mt & $1,136/mt respectively, up $8/mt since the previous assessment. As with the previous day's quiet discussions, the Chinese SM markets are away for Labor Day holiday. The assessed prices increased, following the increase in upstream benzene and discussions about higher prices outside of China. In midafternoon Asian trading on May 3, crude oil futures remained steady as participants anticipated an extended output cut from OPEC+ beyond June. Additionally, the selling pressure of the US dollar boosted demand for dollar denominated assets such as oil futures. The front-month ICE Brent contract closed the day 40 cents/b down at $83.83/b.
