India PTA : Price increases, CFR China India spread narrows / Container freight rates are declining marginally / Downstream polyester demand subdued

The price of Indian purified terephthalic acids rose during the week ending December 13, following higher feedstock prices paraxylene. As container availability improved and freight rates decreased, the spread between CFR China & CFR India shrank. CFR India PTA was $700/mt. This is up $8/mt and $1/mt compared to the previous week. The average weekly CFR India price was $694.40/mt, a decrease of 60 cents/mt from the previous week. The spread between CFR China & CFR India was $70/mt, down $2/mt since Dec. 6. The spread indications of market participants were weakened by lower containerized freight during the week.
