Prices for India methanol were mainly under pressure because of weaker fundamentals on August 23. In the week leading up to August 23, non-sanctioned Middle Eastern producers made sales indications at $285/mt CFR India, for cargoes due in September's second half. Market sources reported that spot availability for September and Octember was good, with Middle East sellers showing active interest. Iranian September-loading bids were received at a 0.5% - 1% discount over the CFR India formula. A spot H1 Octoberloading tender from Qatar, for 5,000-15,000mt of methanol, invited Indian bids until August 26. On August 23, a bid of $283/mt was received for the period Sept. 15-25. A weaker ex-tank domestic market and lack of support for prices led to some buyers indicating lower purchasing intentions in the $278-$280/mt CFR...
