The Asian acetone and phenol prices fell on
May 30. This further reduced the margins of producers. PHENOL: In Asia, the
phenol market tracked a significant drop in China's domestic prices. These fell
at least Yuan200/mt and reached Yuan7100/mt in the week ending May 30. On an import parity, this translates into $823.21/mt. This
represents a decrease of $29.61/mt over the past week. After the Market on Close process, it became apparent that a
few Chinese producers were offering China ex-tank supply at a lower price of
Yuan 6,900/mt. The weak Chinese demand led
to the export of several cargoes. A few
Southeast Asia producers have been seen to reduce their plant operating rates
