Sources said that the Asian methanol
markets started the week with a muted tone on May 22 because of weak market
sentiment and lower Brent oil prices. The July ICE Brent crude futures contract closed at $75.34/b
at 4:30 pm Singapore time. This was down 77c/b compared to the previous Asian
closing. On May 22, selling indications
for cargoes arriving in June were around $254/mt CFR China. Another source stated that "overall demand on the
petrochemicals market is weak, and the expectations for the methanol markets
are not high." CFR Southeast Asia
remains unchanged at $330/mt on May 22. Inventory
levels were tighter in India for cargoes ready for delivery. Offers were made
