India PTA continues to fall due to lower upstream price / The demand for PTA is stable / Freight rates will continue to fall in Sep-Oct

Purified terephthalic acids CFR India dropped $9/mt to $880/mt during the week ending July 26. According to sources on the market, the PTA CFR India prices have been dropping continuously for this week due to a drop in upstream paraxylene. CFR China-CFR India's spread decreased by $2/mt to $128/mt on July 26. An Indian PTA manufacturer said, "Demand for PTA is stable but inventory is still low in India." A second PTA producer stated, "Overall, the demand for PTA remains good. However, there has been a slight decline in demand due to some polyester yarn producers slowing their production rates."
