Asian MTBE increased $22/mt since May 5, to
$881/mt F.O.B. Singapore on May 8, due to firmer upstream oil prices and a thin
market. ICE July Brent crude futures jumped
by $3.06/b, to $76.42/b in  Asian trade
at 0830 GMT on May 8. This caused the price of gasoline blendstocks and other
fuels to increase. On May 8, the price of isomer-graded mixed
xylene increased by $22.50/mt compared to May 5. It was $953/mt FOB Korea. Sources
said that the domestic price in Northeast China was around Yuan 7,500/mt and
had decreased by 100 Yuan/mt since May 5. Sources say
that China may be interested in importing at the current prices, as the
domestic price is about mid-$950s/mt. However, there have been no offers...
