The Asian styrene prices dropped on June 5,
despite the fact that upstream markets were rising. This was due to a weaker
Chinese market. As of 0830 GMT, the July ICE Brent
crude futures contract had risen $4.65/b since the previous session to $77.76/b. On June 5,
the FOB Korea benzene mark rose $7.33/mt from the previous session to $838/mt. The
intermonth spread in the east China domestic market narrowed, after having
increased the previous week. First- and second-half laycans for
July were valued at Yuan 7,800/mt. H1 and H2 laycans for August were valued at
Yuan 7660/mt. This puts the intermonth margin at Yuan 140/mt - down from Yuan
