ICE Brent futures decline $2.74/b on day / Tighter downstream SM supplies cushion impact

Asian benzene prices fell April 18, tracking weaker crude oil values. FOB Korea and CFR China were respectively $1,068/mt et $1,084.50/mt. These markers are down $7/mt et $5/mt for the day. A market source stated that "benzene is following oil prices, which have fallen sharply today." Brent futures ended the day $2.74/b down at $86.97/b amid concerns about demand from major consuming countries. The tighter downstream supplies of styrene polymer cushioned the fall in benzene. CFR China styrene and FOB Korea markers for April 18 were respectively $1,180.50/mt & $1,170.50/mt. Both are up $4.50/mt since the previous assessment.
