Prices for Asian paraxylene fell in tandem with lower oil prices, and a slightly soured sentiment after China's disappointing stimulus announcement. Asian paraxylene is down $6/mt for the day to $1,027.67/mt in CFR Unv1/China on May 21. Last week, China announced a series of measures aimed at improving the ability of households to buy homes. The aim was to boost the sector which had been a major driver of demand for crude oil and petroleum products. Some sources claim that the majority of measures may not have met expectations.
