Spot export prices of polypropylene on a
FAS Houston basis remained unchanged since a week earlier, June 14. Demand was
consistently weak and chemical makers' expectations for the second quarter were
moderated. On June 13-14, the rail car value of
homopolymer graded PP was heard to be 38 cents/lb (937/mt FAS Houston), and
assessed at this level on June 14. FAS's assessment included 4.50
cents/lb (down from 5.50 cents/lb) to account for packaging and transporting
the resin to ports for export. This was at the upper end of the range heard on
June 14. It confirmed previous indications of premium values. One source
