Higher polyester operating rates driving up demand for prompt shipment / Domestic supply is stable

Apr 19, 2024

On April 18, the Asian monoethylene-glycol market remained strong amid restocking. MEG CFR China was up $1.50/mt for the day, at $518/mt. Domestic China assessment also increased Yuan 14/mt to Yuan 4,437/mt (ex-tank) over the same time period. Increased polyester operating rates were attributed to the rise in demand for prompt shipment. Domestic supply, meanwhile, remained stable. Although some plants were reported to be undergoing maintenance at the end April, sources on the market said there would not be any impact on the market because of sufficient plant inventories.
