Heavy turnover season leads to shortage of supplies / Demand is stronger than at the beginning of the year

The FOB US Gulf Coast spot export prices of acrylonitrile were unchanged in the week ending April 30 compared to the previous week. However, the domestic contract price fell by 10.75 cents/lb. This was the fifth consecutive week with stable spot prices. According to sources, a heavy turnaround period contributed to a tight supply. However, this was offset with limited demand. This has led to a tight, but steady, market. Sources said that demand is stronger than at the start of the year. Sources say that supply will be good for the remainder of the year as many producers are returning from turnarounds, and don't want to keep high-priced inventory if the prices drop. Sources say the market must see sustained lower propylene price levels before ACN prices will drop....
