Healthy Polyester Buying Activity / PX-naphtha Spread Narrows

The price of Asian paraxylene rose on May 27 due to stronger crude oil prices and purified terephthalic acids. On May 27, Asian PX CFR Unv1/China & FOB Korea markers were respectively $1,043.67/mt & $1,021.67/mt, both up $3.67/mt for the session. On May 27, July Brent crude futures increased to $82.25/b from $81.26/b the previous day. The September PTA contract at China's Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange rose Yuan 60/mt to Yuan 5,944/mt. There were no cargoes that traded during the Market on Close process. Morning trading heard a September paper trade at $1039/mt, and bids and offers for June between $1040/mt to $1045/mt. The PX/naphtha differential narrowed on May 27 from $374.50/mt to $368.17/mt. Trade sources said the spread was at a healthy amount, due to the expectation of Yisheng buying...
